Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.

Zechariah 9:12

Lord God, I rejoice today because I am, by definition, a prisoner of hope! What joy! I often believe I am a prisoner of so many other things. But You have declared I am a prisoner, captive, restrained, and unreleasable, of HOPE! It is a hope that is not bound or tied to anything I can do or have done. Instead, it is a hope founded and established by the finished work of my Savior! Glory hallelujah! Because of what He has done, I cannot, nor will ever desire to escape from the hope that is mine in Him!

Today, as I bask in the truth of this reality, I pause to first thank You, Jesus, for Your precious sacrifice on my behalf. Thank You for embracing the divine purpose for which You came and fighting the urge to quit, declaring, “And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” (John 12:27-28) Your courage and Your purpose driven passion has made my life in You and eternity possible! Thank You, Lord! Hallelujah!

And, I want to thank You, Father, for loving me enough to send Jesus on this glorious mission, sacrificing Your Son, and causing Him to suffer and pay what I could not so that I could obtain what was beyond my natural reach. Because You loved me You sent Him to take upon Himself all of the penalty that was owed by me for the sins that I have committed, am committing, and will commit. He paid the price for past, present and future sins in my life. And not only mine, but of all those who will call upon His Name! A tall, god-sized order for sure, one no person on this side of eternity could pay. But He did it! And why? Because You required it of Him and He loved You and us enough to do it! What a love!

So today, I just fall at Your feet and worship You. I thank You for Your unfailing love and never ending kindness towards me. Thank You, for riding that young donkey into Jerusalem, ignoring the clamor of those crying in the crowd, but focused on the purpose for which You came. Your single minded drive saved me. And I am eternally grateful. Amen.
