And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.
Luke 19:41-42
Father, I come before You today praying for my community. The airwaves are filled with the turmoil and strife that are raging within the places where we live. Gone are the days when folks could leave their doors unlocked, windows open at night. Maybe those days never existed. But somehow things just feel less stable now, less secure, less peaceful. Even as my Savior wept over Jerusalem, I weep over our communities, knowing how they can obtain the peace that so alludes them, and yet disappointed that they will not embrace Him.
I pray today that You would continue to raise up individuals who know You and desire to pour their lives into their communities in order to make them better places. I pray for the women and men who sacrificially give of themselves to transform communities that are danger zones into havens of hope. I pray that You would provide them with the resources they need and raise up folks who will partner with them to make our neighborhoods not only safe, but peaceful. But most of all, I pray for a movement of Your Spirit in our communities, reviving stale spirits and saving lost souls, that Christ would prevail against the wiles of the enemy, who is attempting to steal the souls of our young ones. It is my prayer that through Jesus that they might have peace and joy unspeakable. Use me, LORD, to also be that source of light beyond my home pointing others to Christ that You might get the glory in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
