Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying, “Certainly this man was innocent!”
Luke 23:47
Lord Jesus, on this Good Friday, there are so many things in my head and on my heart that I desire to share with You. This floodgate of emotions that are overwhelming me right now are difficult to put into words. There is a sense of joy and happiness, sadness and shame, hope and excitement, because what You did for me on Calvary has secured so much for one so unworthy securing a future so glorious. Only You! You did not deserve what happened to You. You were innocent and I am guilty. Yet, You took upon Yourself my punishment, paying my price, that I might walk acquitted. Why? Because You loved me! Hallelujah!
Today, I just want to find a way to thank You for all that You have done for me. My mind has wrestled with all the ways that I could express my gratitude, and they all fall dreadfully short. Truly, there are no words that can express or even begin to convey the depth of my love and appreciation for You. As You hung on that cross You had me in mind. I wouldn’t have done it. Yet, You did. And because You did, my life is Yours. Thank You, Jesus, my Friend, King and Lover of my soul. Thank You. Amen.
