Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news. If we are silent and wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come; let us go and tell the king’s household.”

2 Kings 7:9

Father God, I thank You for the abundance that You have bestowed upon me! As I reflect upon my life, I have truly wanted for very little. Yes, there are always world-based things that I wish that I could have. Yet, You have faithfully supplied all of my needs, even in dire circumstances, and ensured that it was well with me. And I know where it has all come from. It was supplied by You! Glory to Your Name!

As I reflect upon those lepers – outcasts of society, avoided as if they had the plague, abandoned by even family and friends – I am reminded of Your expectations me and all who call You Father. Though others may treat me bad, I must bless them even as You have blessed me. And I must tell them about how good You are! Because of what You have done in sending Christ today is a good day! It is good news. Your provision for all who call upon You is good news (Philippians 4:19)! Your forgiveness and patience is good news (Numbers 14:18)! Your grace and mercy is good news (Titus 3:5)! It is not right for me to be silent about it! What did the songwriter say? “I said I wasn’t gonna tell nobody but I couldn’t keep it to myself, what the Lord has done for me!”

Though they reject me and disregard me, I must love them! I must point them to You! What You have blessed me with is too great for me to keep to myself! I must go and spread Your love, letting everyone You bring in my path know that Jesus saves and blesses!

So today, show me who, when and where I can point towards You as the Giver of all perfect gifts (James 1:17). Don’t let me be comfortable consuming it all myself and trying to store it up for a “rainy day”. Instead, continue to remind me that it, like all things good, comes from You. And that the best joy comes from pouring my life into the lives of others. Thank You for being a cup running over God! Amen!
