One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out.

Luke 8:22 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, my prayer today is that You prepare my heart to not only listen for Your voice, but to also willingly go where You send me and follow You where You lead me. Like the disciples, unbeknownst to me are the storms which will be before me. Frankly, if I knew what was ahead, knowing me, I would shy away from getting in the boat, asking myself that age old question, “Did God really say?” Yet, in Your infinite wisdom, You only show me the next step I should take, ordering my steps, requiring me to walk by faith and not by sight, trusting in You and Your overarching will for my life.

Lord, I have said countless times, “Where You lead I will follow.” And truthfully, I believe that deep down in my heart. Where You are there is an over abundance of peace. And in You I can do all things. I know this and put my full and complete trust in You. My heart finds great joy in knowing that You are going with me, not leaving me to my own devices. You are my shield.

Help me today to respond to what comes my way as You would. If You are asleep in the bow of the ship, I should not fear. Calm my spirit and ease my concerns. Speak peace into my heart and continue to remind me that You are the God of all the Earth, and that even the winds and waves obey Your will. Peace be still my soul to Your glory. Amen.
