Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you; you are my servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me.

Isaiah 44:21

LORD, how many times have people come up to me from my past and embraced me, remembering me, only for me to forget where I met them? As I engage in jovial banter with them regarding how our paths crossed and the difference we made in each other’s lives, my mind gropes trying to recollect what their name is so that I can address them properly. On this side of eternity I realize that my memory is not what it should be. Worse, things and people that should be important for me to recall slip my mind.

Yet, today my soul rejoices knowing that You are not like me. I am not just a fleeting and passing thought to You, one who You blessed in passing. No. There was and is intentionality in Your engagement with me. You formed me, shaped me with a purpose in mind. You called me by name from a life of rejecting You and doing what was right in my own eyes, to a life of service to You, kingdom building. And the beautiful thing about it is that You will never forget me! I am not just anyone. I am Yours. I am Your child. I am being transformed into daily, moment by moment, into the likeness of my Savior! You know the number of hairs on my head. You know everything about me – what I like to eat, what I like to watch on television, where I like to go, who I like to be with. Everything. Nothing about me is a secret to You. And You have promised never to forget me! Hallelujah!

LORD, I thank You today that I am not and shall not ever be a passing fancy! You have ascribed a value to me beyond my understanding, and have declared that I am more precious to You than silver and gold. You have loved me with an everlasting love, so much so much that You were willing to sacrifice Your only Son, so that You could have eternal relationship with me! I am so grateful today and so humbled to know that You love me that much. Thank You for drawing me into this fellowship with You and never forgetting who I am!
