What will one answer the messengers of the nation? “The LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people find refuge.”
Isaiah 14:32
Lord Jesus, my soul finds peace and joy in Your presence. Even now I am overwhelmed by Your love, knowing that in You I can escape from the troubles and cares of this world and find shelter in the time of storms. I live in a world where it is believed that more is better, where men and women strive to get ahead, doing whatever it takes to be first. In this zeal to get and stay on top, the lines of demarcation are often blurred between right and wrong, good and bad, peace and comfort. As a result, I, like so many others, can find myself caught in a barrage of spiritual bullets, ducking and dodging the onslaught of the enemy’s attacks. And many times, Lord, You have opened the door for it to happen, seeing me caught up in the fray, and using the struggles to get my attention. Today I rush to Your throne, wounded and afflicted from the battles I have engaged in, and hide in Your shadow. There my wounds can be nurtured, from my afflictions I can be delivered, and in Your presence I can find refuge. I return to You from my waywardness, seeking shelter in Your midst. Hide me, Lord, from the surrounding salvo. Keep me, Lord, from the commotion around me. Bring blessed quietness to my soul. I surrender to You this day, casting all of my cares upon You for You care for me. Thank You for Your unfailing love.
