The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more…
Romans 5:20 (NIV)
Father God, this morning as I begin this work week my soul is overwhelmed by Your awesome display of grace towards me in Christ Jesus! The law says, “Look honestly at what is there.” By praise to Your Name, grace says, “Now look at what Christ has done!” Whereas the law shows me all of my flaws, Your grace shows me just how much You love me and forgive me! And the English of this verse does not fully express the over abundant magnitude of that grace. Grace “hyper-super-abundantly” increased more! What amazing grace!
I come this morning, confessing my sinfulness and brokenness – my thoughts that can run rampant, my emotions that can be out of control, my words that can be slanderous, my actions that can often be counter – bringing them to You. I expose them to the light of Your righteousness, laying them before Your throne, asking that You would apply to them the blood of Jesus. I do not want to be identified by them. I want to be identified by Christ. I am crucified in Him, and my life I live by faith in Him (Galatians 2:20)!
Let Your grace flow into my life, covering my sin, guilt and shame. Secure me in Your love, and enable me to see me as You do. Let me not be ashamed to run to the foot of my Savior’s cross and place there all the sins that weigh me down, that I might run the race You have set before me (Hebrews 12:1). Use Your amazing grace to continue to turn my heart towards You, overflowing towards building a life of righteousness in me to the glory of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that You might be praised! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!
