Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, as I embark on this new work week, my soul rushes to Your throne, where I can find that glorious peace which passes all understanding. Though my heart and mind longs for so much, nothing can compare to having that tranquility that comes from being in Your presence.
As I ponder the possibilities of this upcoming week, I must confess my soul is anxious. There is so much change in the air. I see so many impacted by those who hold power and authority over us. Honestly, it is easy for me to tumble into a pit of despair!
Yet, You have encouraged me not to be concerned about what folks can do to me for You have my back (Hebrews 13:6). You have declared that those who love Your Word will have great peace and their feet will be established (Psalm 119:165). Being afraid is nothing more than a trap; with You I am safe (Proverbs 29:25)!
So today I lay all of my fears, concerns, anxieties, heartaches, troubles, cares – whatever I want to call them – at Your feet. I cast all of these upon You knowing that You care for me (1 Peter 5:7). My thoughts are fixed on that which is honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, and excellent, things that bring You praise (Philippians 4:8). My thoughts are on You!
Have Your glorious way with me today. Continue to whisper words of joy and peace to my soul. Open my eyes to the wonders of Your works in my midst. As my spirit dwells in Your midst throughout this day, enable me to let Your mind be in me (Philippians 2:5), living and loving as You do. And continue to be my glory and the lifter up of my head (Psalm 3:3) to Your praise and glory! Amen!
