Father God, help me to overcome my perception of self. It is easy for me to look at my life and what I have accomplished and attribute my successes to either my talents, skills, hard work, or even luck. Sometimes I can do so in humility, not with a braggadocios spirit, attributing my success to the contributions of others in my life – how I was raised, those who mentored me, or even those whose lives I have modeled mine after. Yet, the reality of it is the only reason why I have been able to achieve what I have achieved and done what I have done has ultimately been because of You. You have laid out the destination of my life, seen the obstacles that have been in my way, and granted me the strength, wisdom and wherewithal to overcome. Though I may have employed my faculties, it has always been You that has given me the success. This morning I want to acknowledge that reality and give You thanks for all the ways that You have given me the victory. Thank You for giving me breakthroughs when I felt all hope was gone. Thank You for giving me inspiration when I could not see my way. Thank You for giving me strength when I was about to quit. It has and will always be YOU. Today, be my North Star, guiding me and directing me towards Your perfect will in my life. Give me purpose in all that I say and do. Use me to Your glory that my life might reflect Your person and that by it, I might draw others to the foot of the cross. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
