Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7 (ESV)

Father God, I have learned through experience that You are a prayer-answering God. When I call upon You, You answer. What’s more, when I have a need and I bring it to You, You truly meet the need. When I need for You to open up opportunities for me, give me breakthroughs, plough the path before me, You do so, making a way out of no way.

I must confess that rarely does Your provision, direction, or answers come the way I would have expected. Most often they do not even appear to be meeting the need. Instead, it is only when I take a step back, well after I have gone through, and connect the dots, that I can see how You have been orchestrating all things for my good, answering my call and supplying for me.

No where is this more obvious than in the incarnate birth of my Savior. Your people were praying for deliverance from the oppressive hands of their enemies, looking only at the external. Through Jesus You sent deliverance from all their enemies – sin, death and satan, internal and external. He was not what they expected. But He was and is the greatest answer to prayer. Through Him and by Him we have everything we need (2 Peter 1:3)! Glory to Your Name!

Christ is the answer to all of my prayers. In that baby in the manger – sweet, innocent and helpless, sleeping peacefully – I see hope, despite the fact that the world might be against me and looking to kill me (Matthew 2:16-18). In that man sleeping on the boat in the midst of a raging storm I see the focus of my faith and trust, knowing that He is with me, and that where He is there is peace (Mark 4:35-39). In that Savior, bleeding on the cross, suffering abuse, humiliation, torture, and pain, gasping for air, but still saying,”Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34),” I see love unspeakable and commitment unimaginable. In Him, all Your promises are “Yes!” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Thank You for a Savior like Jesus, for Your endless love, and Your divine provisions. I know that You have my back (Isaiah 41:10), that You will take care of all my needs (Philippians 4:19), and that You will always be right here with me (Matthew 28:20). Help me to walk throughout this day in that confidence, holding fast to my faith, fellowshipping with my God, trusting in You. Amen.
