FOR HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE, WHO HAS MADE US BOTH ONE AND HAS BROKEN DOWN IN HIS FLESH THE DIVIDING WALL OF HOSTILITY BY ABOLISHING THE LAW OF COMMANDMENTS EXPRESSED IN ORDINANCES, THAT HE MIGHT CREATE IN HIMSELF ONE NEW MAN IN PLACE OF THE TWO, SO MAKING PEACE, AND MIGHT RECONCILE US BOTH TO GOD IN ONE BODY THROUGH THE CROSS, THEREBY KILLING THE HOSTILITY.
EPHESIANS 2:14-16
Lord, today my soul is comforted and at peace knowing that through Christ Jesus that which separates me from You has been torn away, ripping away that suffocating tension that exists between my longing to pursue a works righteousness, replaced with the very real reality that I am now and forever complete in Him! No longer do I have to be burdened by that inner voice that continues to tell me that I am not enough, that I will never please You. Instead, I stand freely in the truth that in my Savior I am not only whole but also, and more importantly, acceptable to You! My soul rejoices knowing that there is nothing I can do today that will cause You to love me more than You do right now. Nor is there anything that I can do that will cause You to love me less than You do in this moment. Your love for me is as everlasting as Your Person, having loved me from the foundations of the world and setting me apart for such a moment as this. Oh that I could walk in that truth moment by moment this day! As I crucify my flesh and its leanings and longings, continue to remind me of the eternal of enduring in this effort. Show me when I am compromising this wonderful grace by yielding to my tendencies to want to earn or deserve what’s coming to me. Instead, keep ever before me this awesome reality and let me rest in its wonderful peace. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
