And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Isaiah 35:10 (ESV)
Father God, every morning, the closer I get to Christmas this year, I find that my soul resonates with a song. Today Hezekiah Walker’s words ring loud in my spirit:
“It’s so amazing,
Your love for me,
It’s so amazing,
Your sacrifice for me.
For every blessing,
given to me,
for every valley,
You used to strengthen me.
I don’t deserve Your love,
Your tender mercy,
if not for your grace
where would I be
I stand amazed at your glory.
I stand at amazing your strength.
I stand amazed at your power.
So Amazing, So Amazing!”
Indeed, that is my soul’s song this morning! How You could orchestrate a divine plan such as this to redeem Your people – redeem me – literal blows my mind! Through Your beautiful Son You have ushered me into new life, leaving me not to my own devices but raising me up by the power of Your most Holy Spirit! You have not only laid bare Your holy arm (Isaiah 52:10) but also Your heart, declaring to all who will listen Your matchless love for Your creation. Yes, I stand amazed!
So today, let the sentiment of this song continue to resonate within my spirit. As I purvey Your creation, continue to unfold before my eyes the amazement of Your splendor and wonder. I am humbled as my soul rejoices at the continual manifestation of Your redemptive works in my life and the lives of those around me. How great is our God! Sing with me how great is our God! There is none like You! Amen!
