Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

John 13:1

Lord Jesus, when I think about love, this verse resonates heavily with my soul. Faced with Your impending death, knowing the grueling details of what was about to transpire, You took the time to pause and worship with those You loved. Having loved them, You never stopped, but kept right on loving them. One would betray You. Another would deny You. All of them would leave You. Yet, You loved them to the end. Despite the fact that they did not show You the same love in the moment, You loved them to the end.

Lord, I see myself in the group. I have not always stayed the course. I have not always owned You in every moment, I have not always been faithful. Yet, in the same way that You loved that ragtag group of disciples You have loved me – to the end!

As I go full speed into Christmas, my soul needed this glorious reminder that regardless of how raggedy I am as a person that You love me, unconditionally, and to the very end. Your actions say something so great and so profound to me today – I am, to You, worth it. You love me in spite of me. Because of this, I long to see You face-to-face, beholding You in all of Your glory, having the opportunity to tell You how much I really love You. Thank You, Jesus, for Your unmatchable love! Amen!
