When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

John 16:21-22

Father God, today as I navigate through the challenges of life I confess that a dark cloud often looms over my head. Concerned about my future I find I become preoccupied with where I am not and what I am missing out on. My fixation on the “right now” clouds my ability to grasp hold to the joy that You have set before me. I get entangled ina web of negative emotions, forgetting the eternal truth that Christ has given me His joy. I pray today that You would help me be like that expecting mother, who presses through the pain of “now” in anticipation of the joy. I pray today Lord that You would, through Christ, make my joy complete as He has promised. Help me keep my eyes on the things that are unseen that are eternal in You. My heart rejoices today knowing that I am not only Yours but also loved with an everlasting love. Help me to not only walk in that truth, but govern my emotions by it. This I pray in Jesus’ Name.
