God is full of grace. From him we have all received grace in place of the grace already given.
John 1:16 (NIrV)
Lord Jesus, as my mind reflects upon this season, filled with the giving of gifts and the bestowal of blessings upon those with whom I am in relationship with, I cannot help but reflect upon the glorious scene where wisemen came into Your presence and presented You with gifts. What a contradiction! Men giving what they believed to be extravagantly great and glorious herbs and spices to the promised King, unaware that they were actually to become the recipients of the greatest gift of all time: Your grace! And the grace that You give is in given in abundance (Romans 5:17). And the wonderful thing about it, is that it is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23)!
I thank You, Lord, for giving me grace yesterday and piling up on top of it grace today. I thank You that by coming into this world in the flesh, You experienced all the emotional heartaches and humanly pains that I experience, but You did so without falling victim to Your flesh like I do (Hebrews 4:15). You know what I am going through, know what I need, and daily give me what I am longing for, freely, as Your gift to me. This is the grace that my heart pines for, that my soul cannot do without. And You keep piling it on! Glory to Your Name!
Thank You for not remaining in Heaven, distant from us. Instead You became our Immanuel, physically representing the fullness of the grace of God in the flesh. Thank You for giving me what I do not deserve, a favor that I shall not fully comprehend until I see You face-to-face, but one that my heart is truly thankful for. Thank You for loving me and bestowing upon me the greatest gift of all – You. Amen.
