All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink. Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the LORD?”

Exodus 17:1-2

Lord, how often do I forget what You have just done for me when hardships and difficulties confront me? How many times have I forgotten the lessons learned through past difficulties, only to find myself having to learn them all over again? How many times will have to learn this same lesson over and over again before I finally get it? Today, I realize that though hardships come at me with different disguises, they are all but the same: opportunities to try my trust of You, not an occasion for me to gripe and bellyache regarding Your care for me. Grant Your servant this morning not only the patient endurance to go through the challenges, but more so Your divine peace and confidence to trust You in the midst of it, knowing that You are in control, and that nothing will come my way unless it first passes through Your hands. You have divinely orchestrated the events of my life, sending all things my way for the purpose of refining and building me up that You might use me to Your glory. This day I choose to trust in You and gripe regarding the hardships because I know You are in control. Have Your way this day with my life in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
