That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”
Mark 4:35 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, I come before You this morning eagerly going where You lead and following You where You direct. Unlike the disciples whom You beckoned to get in the boat with You and go to the other side, I know from their experience that storms may very well be ahead of me. I know that there may be some very rough waters in my very near future, and that I may very well also be tossed and driven through it all. Lord, I know that the roughness of the storm may be so fierce that it may cause me to even question my faith.
Because of this I pray this morning that You would strengthen my faith. Continue to remind me that I am not in the boat alone, but You are there. Let me take my “concern cues” from You, learning from how You respond to what is going on around me, and adjusting my thoughts, actions and concerns by Your faith-fueling guidance. I know that the wind and the rain obey Your will. Nothing comes my way except it first passes through Your hands. Therefore, the storms are but tools for my development used by You to forge me into who You have created me to be.
Therefore, where You lead I will not only follow, but I shall do so by faith, knowing and trusting that You will not only protect me, but also guide and direct me into being the best me that I can be to Your glory. Help me to keep my eyes on You and not the storm around me. Then I shall walk in the peace that You have promised oblivious spiritually to what is going on around me to Your glory. Amen.
