Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me free.
Psalms 118:5 (ESV)
Father God, You know where I am and how I am feeling this morning. You know the concerns on my mind and the challenges that I believe I am facing. You know my desires and disappointments, my strivings and my setbacks. You know everything. Nothing is hidden from Your eyes. It is against this backdrop that I come to You, asking for Your touch, that You would ease my concerns and relieve my anxieties. I ask that You would see Your child and provide me with what I am in the need of, giving me Your peace and wholeness. Calm my nerves and remind me that everything is going to be alright.
I confess that I tend to blow things out of proportion. Like Chicken Little I get hit in the head with an acorn and scream, “The sky is falling!” Yet, regardless if what comes my way is inconsequential or mammoth, I am a child of the Most High God Who has everything under control. You know the relevance of what comes my way, and You beckon me to trust in You with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). I confess I often believe it in my head but my heart sometimes struggles.
So today, I call on You. I lay all of my cares and concerns at Your feet. And I ask that You would deliver me from worrying about them, knowing that You’ve got me. Remind me that when I call on You that You will answer me. It may not be the answer that I want but it will be the answer that I need. And frankly, that’s good enough for me. I lay my life into Your hands. Do with me as You see fit to Your glory in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
