Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
John 9:35 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, I thank You this morning for giving Your servant eyes to see. I was blind at one time, oblivious to the wiles of this world and the tugging of my flesh. But You, in Your infinite grace and mercy, came in, removed the scales, and shined the light of life into my face. For this I want to say thank You!
You know how I am wrestling with all of the craziness that is happening in this country right now. And what most disturbs me is how the church is either silent or in some cases approving the atrocities being carried out by this administration. Lost is the call to demonstrate Your love in a tangible way. Instead, it is their aim to put nation first, not Kingdom. And so they stand by silently and watch…
My prayer today is for prophetic boldness. As I look at this verse, You opened the eyes of that man born blind. And with his new sight he was willing to challenge the powers that be with the truth. And he did so at the risk of losing everything. Lord, I want that kind of courage. Grant it to me today. In my small sphere of influence, don’t allow me to be afraid of what they will do to me if I take a bold stand for righteousness, whatever it is. Instead, encourage me by reminding me that You will do for me what You did for that blind man: You will come and find me where I am, and remind me of Who You are in my life – my Savior! Remind me that I too was an outcast, a foreigner, lost. But You found me! In the same way, You can and will do it for others.
Grant me boldness to be that vessel of redemption today, finding comfort in knowing that whatever comes my way because of it, You will be there with me. Amen.
