As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they replied.
Matthew 9:27-28 (NIV)
Lord, grant me tenacity in my prayer life today, resisting the feeling of just wanting to give up when it appears like You are disregarding my requests or even focusing Your attentions elsewhere. Like those two blind men I often feel as if my requests to You are falling on deaf ears. I call out to You and You seem to just keep on going, You not really regarding my requests, stymying me with silence.
Today I see that I have to be like those men and continue to follow You any and everywhere You go, knowing that You are not ignoring me but are in actuality asking me, “Do you truly believe I am able to do this?” It is in this spirit of anticipation that my faith and hope come together, knowing that You can and that You will. I only have to wait, with my soul responding when You ask, “Yes, Lord, I do!”
So today, as I am confronted with situations and circumstances where I feel like You either don’t hear me or don’t care, remind me that neither are true. Instead, You are asking me to trust You, knowing that You are in control and that in You and through You I can overcome. Today, I wait by faith with glorious expectation on what You will manifest in my life and the prayers You will answer, all to Your glory. Amen!
