Then Eli answered, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have made to him.” And she said, “Let your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.
1 Samuel 1:17-18
Lord, today let my words and actions bring comfort to somebody, moving them from a place of mourning to a place of self-care, both physically and spiritually. Give me the words to say that will remind others of Who You are and of their need to hold fast to their faith in You. The burdens of life can be so heavy that they pull us into a downward spiral, sucking us into an abyss of despair. Yet, knowing that You, the God of Peace, takes pleasure in granting our petitions, is indeed fuel for our faith, enabling us to pull ourselves out of the doldrum we find ourselves and trusting in You anew. Use me to remind someone that they will never go wrong by having faith in You. Grant me divine discernment to see their state, and give me the words to say in the moment that speak to where they are so that when they go their way, they can do so knowing that You have not only heard them, but will be there with them for it is You that is the lifter up of our heads. Amen.
