For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
Hebrews 9:13-14
Lord Jesus, my soul finds great peace today in the fact that the sacrifices made by those who worshipped You in the past were a foreshadowing of the glorious sacrifice that You would make for me. Even now, I see that what I am navigating through right now, and the joys and victories that I experience in the here and now, are but a foreshadowing of what is to come when You return for me! Hallelujah!
Because of this, I cling to the reality that this light and momentary affliction does not compare to the glory that is to be manifested in me when You come back. So, I look to You and what You are doing in and around me, placing my hope in things eternal not temporal. I remind myself that this is not my home and that You have laid up for me not only a heavenly residence, but also spiritual treasures that my mind cannot begin to comprehend.Â
Grant me peace today as I navigate through and around the obstacles before me. Remind me of Your precious promises, the greatest of which being that You will never leave me nor forsake me. As I hold on to You as I go through, grant my soul the peace it so desperately needs in the moment. Help me to show love to those who attack me instead of being defensive. Help me to pour myself out to those who disrespect me instead of shaking the dust off my feet. Help me to be more like You as I confront a world that does not know You. Use me to be a herald of that which is to come when You return, that others might be drawn to You and find their peace, hope and joy in You. Amen.
