“Please, my lord,” she said, “as surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD. I prayed for this boy, and since the LORD gave me what I asked him for, I now give the boy to the LORD. For as long as he lives, he is given to the LORD.” Then he worshiped the LORD there.
1 Samuel 1:26-27
Lord, You have been so good to me. You have answered my prayers, granting me so many times the very things that I have asked for. By Your graciousness I have been given more than I deserve, my cup overflowing with blessings. You have uniquely gifted me, forming and shaping me into the person You have made me to be, endowed with capabilities that in combination, makes me who I am. Though others may be able to do one thing I can or another, the combination of these gifts makes me unlike any other person in all of creation past and future. And You have done so to advance Your will in me, through me, and in this world. I am humbled knowing that You have a plan for my life and my gifts. Therefore, today, I rededicate myself to You and Your service, laying before Your throne all of the gifts You have bestowed upon me. I recommit that I am Yours to be used in anyway that You see fit so that You might be glorified by me all the days of my life. Use my unique giftedness to advance Your perfect will in this world. I decrease, putting behind me my personal ambitions and goals and ways in which I would prefer to use my giftedness to benefit me, that You might increase, and my gifts be used to advance Your kingdom and ensure that Your perfect will is accomplished. I yield to You this day, giving myself away that You might use me, giving my gifts back to You as long as I live as my ultimate act of worship. Amen.
