Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

Exodus 14:21

Father God, as I reflect upon this verse today, my soul is pricked by the words, “the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night…” How many times have I agonized through the darkness of my difficulties, wondering whether I would get through, only to find out that You were working on it “all night”? Though I have wanted You to come through quick and in a hurry, Your deliverance took “all night”. Though I felt I needed You right in the moment, You made me wait “all night”. In Your graciousness You sent signs to me that You were indeed working on it, “a strong east wind” as evidence that Your help was at hand. But I was so consumed by my “stuff” that I failed to connect the dots!

I thank You today for those You have placed in my life to bring about the needed transformation, who have stretched out their arms and not only received be, but have become the catalyst for Your sanctifying work in me. I thank You for the glimmers of grace that You throw me way, the strong east winds that I may not understand what they are doing and saying, but that declare to me that You are not silent and are at work behind the scenes to perfect that work that You are doing in me. I thank You for the all night process of that You are taking me through, showing me inch by inch how You are accomplishing Your will in me, a process that I may not understand right now but will eventually get it because by it You cause my footing to be sure, my path to be clear and the ground that I am standing on to be solid. Give me patience to wait and faith to hold on to the hope of Your deliverance as I am confronted with challenges today. Thank You for this glorious reminder today of the process whereby my help comes. Amen.
