When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns.
Matthew 14:13 (NIV)Â
Lord Jesus, thank You through Your example for giving me permission to mourn loss, admit when I am overwhelmed, and just steal away for quiet time with You whenever life becomes too much for me. I must admit that sometimes it is more than I can handle. Between loss, burdens, cares, and all the other things that can come my way, I can find myself barely surviving. Yet, You are showing me that in the midst of great burdens it is alright to steal away and find time with the Father and with You. Being by myself with You is good!
Yet, I am also reminded today that when I am weakest and most vulnerable You are often able to do Your greatest work through me. It was on the throes of You hearing of the brutal death of Your cousin John that You touched over 5,000 lives in a miraculous way. All because You were always available to do ministry. What a glorious reminder to me of how You can use me when I feel like I am at one of my lowest points. When I am weak You are strong!
Thank You for permission to feel and to personally heal in solitude. And thank You for the promise that You can and will use me in whatever state I am in, reminding me that I am a very beloved vessel of Yours, and that You can both comfort me and use me at the same time. Amen.
