And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.
Exodus 29:46
Father, my soul finds such great comfort in reading this verse today. When I think about what the children of Israel went through, going into Egypt as foreigners and being enslaved, it saddens me, even as I reflect upon the oppression that so many have gone through in this country and beyond. Yet, when I read this verse, my mind going over those words, “that I might dwell among them”, and remember that the dwelling that You are speaking of would not have happened had You not sent them into Egypt in the first place, I find a great deal of comfort, especially as I think about the trials I am wrestling with even now. You said in Your Word that all things work together for good. This reaffirms in my heart that You are at work in all things, good and bad, and that in the end Your sole purpose is that we might dwell with You.
So today, I’m going to trust You. I admit it is sometimes real tough. I have the tendency to try to roll up my sleeves and get it done by myself. Yet, that rarely works out the way I expect. Instead, I commit today to seek Your face. Help me to shed my fleshy existence in exchange for a life that is modeled after my Savior. Fill me with Your presence through an outpouring of Your Holy Spirit into my heart, and as I submit to Him and His guidance, help me to rest in that peace that can only come from You. Help me to overcome my tendency to go through the motions and instead be intentional about fellowshipping with You.
Thank You for being the LORD my God. Thank Your for revealing Yourself to me. Thank You for taking residence right here in my heart. Help me to live like I am redeemed today to Your glory. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
