Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
Psalm 86:17
Father God, this is what I mean by fingerprints, signs of You working things out for me. As I live through the issues of the day, and frustration wells up within my heart, it is then that I long to see Your hand at work in my life. I desire this not to shame others or as a sign for those who are against me that You are on my side. No. I desire it that I might live through, grow through, get through it.
Those who desire to see me fail, though they are not an encouragement to me, have no power over me. Yes, they can influence how I feel about my circumstances, bringing my attention to what is not there and distracting me from seeing what is there, namely Your fingerprints working things for my good. Yes, they may even be able to make things uncomfortable and problematic. Yet, they have no power except that which You have given. No influence except that which You have permitted. My call in the moment is to look to You and put my trust in You, Who is faithful!
So today, I hold fast to the fact that You are the Lifter of my head, the Comforter of my soul, the Source of my peace. As I confront what comes my way continue to remind me that it is indeed working for my good. Indeed, You are in control. Make my life a testimony to Your goodness and Your mercy. Have Your way in Jesus’ Name.
