Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself.
Psalm 80:17 (NIV)
Lord God, as I walk into this first full week of the new year I do so with a lot of hopes, dreams, aspirations, and fears. This year brings with it a plethora of opportunities for me to shine in my service to You and others. You have called me salt and light (Matthew 5:13, 14). Yet in that, You have warned me that my value to You and the Kingdom hinge on me doing what I was created to do. And I must confess that in my own strength I cannot. Like those who have come before me I am destined to fail without You.
I thank You today for my Savior, Jesus, Who today sits at Your right hand, that glorious Son that You raised up for Yourself, and not for Yourself alone but for the world! I thank You for my intimate association with Him, that glorious truth that when You see me You see Him! All of my sins, all of my failures, all of my shortcomings He has taken upon Himself. And in their place You have, through Him, infused within me all of His righteousness, all of His purity, and all of His promise! In Him I stand complete!
So today, my prayer is that through Him You would be my strength (Psalm 28:7), my guide (Psalm 32:8), my provision (Philippians 4:19), and my sufficiency (2 Corinthians 3:5). Even as You have reminded me this morning that I can do nothing without Him, remind me throughout this day that He is my all-in-all plus nothing as I am bombarded by the issues of life! Keep ever before me my utter dependence and desperate need for You! Use me, Lord to Your glory in Jesus’ Name! Amen!
