Know then that God has chosen to overlook some of your iniquity.
Job 11:6b (CSB)
Funny Father God, that as I read these words spoken by Zophar to Job that my soul immediately said, “That’s so right.” I am amazed at how quickly I go to that place of creating a hierarchy of sins, relegating some of my sins unpardonable, thinking in my mind that there is no way that You could ever forgive me of that. It’s actually disturbing how often I go to that place and its impact on my subsequent actions and feelings. And it all revolves around that word “some”; God has chosen to overlook some of your iniquity.
Today I rush not only to the cross but also to Your Word, for in both I find the remedy to what my broken soul cannot seem to shake. At the cross my Savior paid the price for all my sins, taking upon Himself my judgment that I might walk in His righteousness. And it is Your Word that reminds me daily of that fact, that tells me that You have forgiven all of my sins (Colossians 2:13-14), that He paid the price I could not pay (Romans 3:24-25), and that through my confession I am cleansed of all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)! Jesus is now my Advocate and my Mediator, standing before You making appeals on my behalf (1 Timothy 2:5, 1 John 2:1)! Hallelujah!
Thank You my God for not overlooking any of my sins but instead sending Christ Jesus to erase them all! In Him and through Him – by the power of the Holy Spirit – I stand complete! I worship and praise You – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Glory to Your Name! Amen!
