For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.
Colossians 2:9-10 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, as I engage with this day I must confess that a good deal of it feels overwhelming. And the truth be told, I’m not prepared for it. I know that things will come at me from all directions and I will not have a response for it. People will have expectations of me and I will have expectations of myself that will far exceed my ability to deliver. Even now failure seems imminent, just beyond the horizon of my sight.
Yet, when I rose this morning a word was on my heart from Your Holy Scriptures: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) I hear You reminding me deep down in my spirit that Your requirement of me is not perfection nor performance. I hear You saying that it is not about me; it’s about You. You are the Head. In You is the fullness of God. And in You I am brought to fullness. I have everything I need.
Lord, Your words to Martha are so apropos for me this morning, “You are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.” (Luke 10:41-42). Time with You, calming my spirit in Your presence, seeing the challenges before me from Your perspective is that one thing that is sufficient today.
So, I steal away this morning, going to that blessed garden alone, spoken of in that hymn of the church,
“while the dew is still on the roses,
and the voice I hear falling on my ear,
the Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
and He tells me I am His own;
and the joy we share as we tarry there,
none other has ever known.”
Thank, Lord, for Your love, peace, and covering today. I love You. I really do. Amen.
