So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed. I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done. I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land.

Psalm 143:4-6 (NIV)

Father, my spirit is tired. Not from the long drive; but from the long drought. My mind remembers the fire that welled up in my belly as I sat on the floor that one day years ago while reading Isaiah. Or more recently as I fell to the floor in the basement in tears as I listened to the song, “When You Walk into the Room” – “When You walk into the room, everything changing, darkness starts to tremble at the light that You bring. And when You walk into the room every heart starts burning and nothing matters more than just to sit here at Your feet and worship You.” I long for those days, those feelings. As I read Your Word, my holy imagination reflects on what those who were firsthand witnesses of Your wonders must have thought – how they must have felt – and I just find myself longing for an encounter like theirs.

Father, I stretch my hands out to You this morning and my soul cries out, “Fill me, LORD, with Your precious Holy Spirit!” Touch my heart with Your holy hands. Satisfy my gospel thirst with the living waters flowing from Your throne. Fill my cup to overflowing. Like a deer panting after the water brooks, so thirsts my soul for You (Psalm 42:1). Quench my thirst, Father, and I will thirst no more! Make today a day that I will look upon in the future when I find myself dry and downcast, a day that I will reflect upon with satisfaction, and long for days like today. Give me a supernatural, super-stupendous, super-loving day with You, one where I don’t just see Your hands at work around me but experience the fullness of Your presence in me. Fill my cup, LORD, and cause it to overflow. Show me, Father, Your glory (Exodus 33:18). I stand at the entrance of the tent of my heart worshipping You (Exodus 33:10).  Be ever glorified, my God and King! Amen!
