The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.

Proverbs 21:31 (NIV)

Father God, this has been a recurring theme for me over the last few days. As I have seen what has been coming from the works of my hand I have seen first hand that I own the preparation but You own the results. Try all I want to make things turn out the way I’d like the fact is in the end victory and success can only come from You. It is You that takes my meager preparations and cause them to rise to the level of victory. You take what I have planned and give me the results I am looking for. It is You.

So today, as I plan out what I intend for this week to look like I pray for the results that only You can provide. I pray that You would prepare me for whatever will come my way. In my limited perspective on life I cannot anticipate all of the challenges, obstacles or potential setbacks that might come in my direction. But You can. You know the end before the beginning. You know what will transpire. You are sovereign and control all happenings in creation. I lean and trust in You. You, Father, are my Source of victory. I pray You would give Your servant just that, in the Name of Jesus.

So, I look to You. I pray for a diligent heart that is faithful with the portion You have assigned to me – the preparation – that I might not go by the way of the slacker and just assume things will go well. Instead, help me to keep my hands to the plow and be steadfast with what You have assigned me. I pray for discipline and patience, staying to the course and waiting on directions from You, that I might, in the end, taste of the sweet victory that can only come from You. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
