And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.”

Mark 10:51 (ESV)

Lord Jesus, how many times have You asked me that question, “What do you want me to do for you,” and I have answered with a worldly request? “Lord, pay this bill; give me this job; change this circumstance…” The list goes on. Honestly, there is always something that I could use at every moment of my day, every minute of my life. If asked enough times, I can come up with a laundry list!

Yet, as I allow the worries and cares of this world to weigh heavy on my want/to do list, I regularly miss what is most important. Like Martha bogged down with the cares, wants, and wishes of this life, I miss out on that which is jaw droppingly life changing, course correcting, and ever perfecting – You. I can get so bogged down on majoring in the minors that I miss the true and only Ursa Major, Big Dog, in my life – my Savior! The One Who has my back at all times, the Lover of my soul. You!

So what I really want today Lord is to see. As I hear You asking my spirit, “What do you want me to do for you,” my only response this morning is, “Lord Jesus, let me recover my sight. Let me see You, the works of Your hands, and all of Your glory.” Lord, strike my heart with awe as I witness the beauty of the sunrise or the glistening of the stars at night, pondering the majesty of the One who could create something so glorious in its vastness and splendor. Let me see Your fingerprints in the inner workings of the unfolding of the events around me, how individuals who don’t know You, and in some instances each other, find their actions collaborating in perfect harmony to bring about results that the world declares are “coincidences,” but those who know You can see are the fruit of divine intervention. Let me see the declaration of Your glory by all of creation – the budding of flowers, the birds soaring, the flowing of waters. Let me see You in the rain, snow, sunshine, moonlight, wind blowing, grass growing – in everything!

I praise You this morning, Lord Jesus! My soul basks in Your glorious presence. My heart extends itself to You in worship, with heartfelt gratitude, for giving me ears that hear, eyes that see, and a heart that believes! Be glorified! Amen!
