And Samson said to them, “This time I shall be innocent in regard to the Philistines, when I do them harm.” So Samson went and caught 300 foxes and took torches. And he turned them tail to tail and put a torch between each pair of tails. And when he had set fire to the torches, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines and set fire to the stacked grain and the standing grain, as well as the olive orchards.
Judges 15:3-5
LORD, help me to guard my heart and my actions regarding how I feel I am being treated or respected. I know that over the course of this day that people will do things that will not only anger me, but will incite me to respond in a way that is contrary to Your Word. In the past I have found myself doing things that, after the dust has settled, that I have been ashamed of and that have brought dishonor to myself and You. Grant me the self-control to pause before acting, discerning the full impact of my behaviors, both on those around me and my personal testimony before them. Help me to balance the need to express my frustration and disappointment with my call to be an ambassador of Christ demonstrating the fruits of the Spirit. Help me to overcome impulsiveness and rash decisions. It is my desire to model what it means to be guided by Your Holy Spirit. Speak to my spirit throughout this day, granting me Your divine insight to my circumstances so that I can have confidence in resting and waiting on You. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
