Then the Philistines said, “Who has done this?” And they said, “Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife and given her to his companion.” And the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire. And Samson said to them, “If this is what you do, I swear I will be avenged on you, and after that I will quit.” And he struck them hip and thigh with a great blow, and he went down and stayed in the cleft of the rock of Etam.
Judges 15:6-8
Father God, I pray for Your covering today on all of my relationships and those I am in them with. LORD, protect them from the unintended consequences that result from my or others’ actions. I realize that my actions do speak louder than my words. In the heat of the moment what I do can communicate something to others that I never truly intended. This very well may be compounded by me not being present physically or mentally to counter the assumptions that others may make. As a result, those I love can be deeply hurt. LORD, I realize that I cannot always prevent this from happening. However, You can minimize the pain and expedite the healing process. I pray today for Your grace in my relationships. I pray that You would shield others around me from suffering the full effect of my actions and behaviors. LORD deflect the blows that this world would strike them and grant them what they need in that moment to stand. I pray that You would keep me cognizant of the full impact of my words and deeds, and grant me the wisdom to act in a manner that glorifies You at all times. I thank You that You have given me the strength to stand against what this world comes against me with. I pray that You would continue to remind me that it is not by might nor by power but instead by Your Spirit. Then I can rest in peace knowing that You’ve got my back as well as those whom I love. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
