Two things I ask of you; deny them not to me before I die: Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the LORD?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.
Proverbs 30:7-9
LORD, the songwriter declared, “I don’t possess houses or land, fine clothes or jewelry. The troubles and cares of this ole’ world, you know my life seems to be. But I have Christ, all in my life, and this makes me happy. Christ is all, He’s all and all, this world to me.” Oh, that this would be my testimony this day! I confess that I am often consumed with the acquisition of “stuff,” seeking to get more so that I can have an “easier” life. Because of it and the potential fear of losing what I have, I can easily be tempted to say and do whatever it takes to hold on to what I’ve got. Yet, this day I ask that You would remove from me that worldly ambition and continue to forge me into the person of godly integrity that You have created me in Christ Jesus to be. I pray that You would remind me that even as You have tended to the needs of the sparrow You have and will take care of me. I pray that You would continue to challenge me to set my affections on things above and not on the things of this world for they do indeed fade and have no lasting value. LORD, only that which I do for You and Your Kingdom shall last. I submit to Your Lordship of my life. Be glorified in me in Jesus’ Name.
