But he abandoned the counsel that the old men gave him and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him.

Father God, today I will be presented with a lot of decisions that I will have to make. You have surrounded me with a host of wise and capable counselors to help me make the best decisions I can in the moment. I recognize that some will tell me things that I do not want to hear and share direction I may not like in the moment. I pray for wisdom and grace to let go of my preconceived notions and predisposed ideas, and just listen. I want to hear the guidance and direction that You are providing me through the guidance of others. Show me my hidden biases which have the tendency to persuade me to disregard what is being shared with me. Instead, remind me that You not only speak to me within my soul but also through the voice of others. Help me not to abandon the counsel of those around me but to embrace them wholeheartedly, knowing You are indeed speaking to me in Jesus’ Name.
