So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.

Psalm 81:12 (ESV)

Father, I hear You asking me this morning, “You did things Your way; how has that worked out for You?” I must admit, it has not. Yes, for a season things have seemed to have gone along well. I was able to accomplish some of the “things” I wanted to get done and acquire some of the “stuff” that I thought makes living fun. Yet, like all things in this world, the pleasure in having it soon dissipates leaving me to ask the question, “Was it worth it?” And the answer is always “no” when You are not at the center.

Today, I put my stubborn heart and vain passions to the side, and I look to You for guidance and direction on what I should prioritize. I accept the fact that I don’t have the answers, nor can I get it from just surrounding myself with wise, godly people, though they can help steer me back to Your will. I will seek You first, Your will, and I will use those whom You have placed in my life to confirm what I already know, helping me to discern between good, better, and best concerning Your purposes for my living. Your Word I will hide in my heart. I will purpose to remain in Your presence, reminding myself that You are always a prayer away.

My chief desire is to serve You, be used by You, and to please You. It is not about me. So, I am listening, Lord. I want to get it done to Your glory. Have Your way in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
