The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul.

Psalm 19:7a

Father, starting off this work week I must confess that I am drained! My mind and body are just saying, “Press the snooze button one more time.” I wish I could say it is because I am sleepy, did not get enough rest, or that a few more minutes of shut-eye will make it all right. But I know that it will not. This fatigue is soul deep. It is not just due to a lack of sleep. It is the result of a dryness of soul.

So, this day I rush to Your Word. In a world full of misguided direction and wayward leanings, Your Word is perfect in all ways, providing guidance to those who desire to see Your face and long for Your presence. What’s more, it refreshes the soul that is weary, revives the soul that is languishing, and restores the soul that is faltering. In it and by it I can see You, grasp Your will for me, and find a peace that passes all understanding. My soul clings to every Word that proceeds from Your throne of grace!

It is my prayer today, Father, that You would continue to bring to my mind Your Words that are befitting to all of my situations throughout this week. Remind me of those precious words that have given my soul life, put pep in my step, and pointed me in the right direction. Even now, I can hear Your glorious words to me from 1 John 3:1, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” I am Yours! No matter how bad things may seem, You have put Your Name on me! As I wrestle through the challenges of today, that Word gives me peace. And when I don’t have it, I can hear You say, “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3)

So LORD continue to bring the refreshment of Your Words to my memory throughout this week, for in it I have everything I need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), for in them and by them I come to know You better and live a life pleasing to You. Open my mind and my heart to Your Word in the Name of the Jesus, the Living Word, I pray. Amen.
