The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind…
Psalm 110:4 (ESV)
LORD God, I confess that some time – no, most of the time – I don’t feel worthy of all that You have done for me. When I think about how I have lived my life, even after I gave it to You, it blows my mind that You still love me. As Paul exclaimed in Ephesians 3:8, “Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me,” I too often feel like the least of Your servants, like the prodigal not fit to be called Your son. Yet, this grace was given to me. And to boot, You don’t change, never change Your mind. You have no regrets. You knew what You were doing, what You were getting into when You pulled me into Your fold. And You are all in! Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? (Exodus 15:11) My soul exclaims with the psalmist, “What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me?” (Psalm 116:12)
Today, I want to thank You for being a God Who never changes His mind. You have set Your plans, from the beginning to the end, and they shall not change, but shall be accomplished. What’s more, You have set Your love upon me, calling me out of the place of darkness into Your marvelous light. You cleaned me up and gave me a purpose. Yes, I know that I am neither worthy nor fit for the task at hand. But, Your grace and mercy follow me, and in Your power, You hold me up. All that I do I do by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is not me; it is You!
So, I thank You today for being my God Who never changes. Thank You for being someone I can depend on, Who is not only true to Your word, but will be there for me. Thank You for setting Your course, my course, and seeing it through to the end, not being deterred or shaken by the changing circumstances and perspectives of those around me. But most of all, thank You for not now and not ever changing Your mind regarding me. You said You love me with an everlasting love, and because of this love, Your faithfulness shall never depart from me (Jeremiah 31:3). May I be as steadfast as You through the power of the Holy Spirit within me to Christ’s glory. Amen.
