My son, do not lose sight of these—keep sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck.
Proverbs 3:21-22 (ESV)
Father, I so often lose sight of the benefits of being in Your Word and following after Christ’s ways. The allure of the world and its “right now hook ups” often make me feel as if I am missing out on the good life if I don’t pursue them. Yet, I have learned that the world is full of empty promises, a phony façade promising abundance but only delivering empty boxes.
But when I follow closely behind my Savior, hanging on every one of His words, I have discovered that little indeed is much, peace can for sure be acquired, and I have everything that I need. When I put You first and set my heart on attaining to that level of maturity that You aspire for me, I have found that my soul is satisfied. LORD, that is what I desire!
Today, help me not to lose sight of this truth. Help me to tirelessly and fervently seek to keep sound wisdom, discretion, and righteousness as the focus of my life. Let Christ’s mind be in me, the hope of glory fuel me, and my love for You and others satisfy me. I choose You today and everyday. You are Whoever I need You to be. You’re the “I am!” Thank You Jesus! Amen!
