When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?

Psalm 8:3-4 (ESV)

Lord, I’m tired of church as usual, my faith as usual. Even regarding my prayers and quiet time, as usual. My soul longs for a vibrant, dynamic engagement with You, one filled with excitement regarding the mystery of what You will do today. I want to have a childlike fascination and anticipation of Your movement in my world and the world around me, sitting at the edge of my proverbial seat waiting on You to blow my mind with Your awesomeness!

The key for this is in the notion of “childlike.” It is in the wonderment that builds out of expectation, with eyes to see what You are doing in my world at a micro-level. It stems from the ability to view the most minute of details in all of their glorious interconnectedness to Your universal Sovereignty. It comes from knowing that You are in complete and total control, nothing escaping Your direct control, and seeing the vastness of all creation, having my head spin asking the question, “What does it take to control all of this?” That is what I want!

Father, today continue to reveal Yourself and Your glory to me in all of the little things. When I see that small insect about its business, I know You are there. When I feel the warm breeze across my skin, I know You are there. When someone out of the blue who does not know me says something nice to me, I know You are there. Even when I avoid that accident or that issue, even then I know You are there. I look upon You and what You are doing in and around me, all the vastness of creation, and worship You. Because I see Your fingerprints everywhere! Thank You! Hallelujah! Amen!
