Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

2 Peter 1:4 (NIV84)

Father God, thank You for the glorious escape plan that You have provided for me in Christ Jesus! Though I am still not yet perfected, each day I am being transformed into the image of my Savior through the presence of the Holy Spirit within me. And what makes this so wonderful is that I can see the changes in my life, especially as it pertains to my desires, recognizing that what I used to long for I no longer for. Instead, it is my desire to please You (2 Corinthians 5:9). And this desire is becoming more and more pronounced the more I get to know You.

So Father help me to continually walk in this knowledge, keeping my eyes on Jesus, living as He lived and loving as He loved. As I crucify my flesh daily, please continue to remind me of the benefits of doing so. I don’t want to grieve what I have forsaken. You know how I can sometimes get caught up in myself and get focused on the things of this world that can feed my flesh. Instead I look with expectation on what is ahead – what You have promised me as Your child – a life that so far exceeds this life, that I can never fully grasp. A life filled with joy untold!

Therefore, please protect and shield me from fleshly lapses. Continue to remind me of Your presence and strengthen me throughout this day. Help me to live in the moment with You, fueled by faith, holding fast to the eternal hope that You have placed within me. Forgive me when I falter and purge from me all that corrupts. And when corruption is breathing down my neck, put a word in my heart reminding me that I am not there person any longer. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
