Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.

Psalms 115:1 (NLT)

LORD, I praise and worship You this morning! In this world where a person is measured by what they have, what they do, or how popular they are, it is easy to get lost, caught up in all that ramble, believing I am more than I truly am, seeing the quiet blessings that You have bestowed upon me as a measure of my value.

Yet today I am reminded that all of this is but an idol placed before me, the enemy’s attempt to persuade me to focus my passions on the things of this world instead of the things of You. Even as the psalmist proclaimed, they are merely things of silver and gold shaped by human hands (vs. 4), they cannot speak, cannot see, cannot hear, cannot smell, cannot feel (vss. 5-7). In them is no life and the pursuit of them leads to death.

But You, O LORD, are my light and my salvation; You are the strength of my life (Psalm 27:1). In You I live, move, and have my being (Acts 17:28). You are God alone; there is no other god besides You (Isaiah 45:6). I am who I am because You have been good to me! I take none of the credit but shoulder all the blame because if it had not been for Your glorious work within me I would have been undone. But because of Your grace I can stand. To You be all the glory for Your unfailing love and faithfulness towards me!

So as I end this work week and make my way into this weekend, all the attention, all the spotlights, and all the accolades that might come my way I give it all back to You. You have been good to me. Thank You for all You have done in my life. Truly there is no way I can live without You! Be glorified in Jesus’ Name!
