The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.
John 12:17-18
Lord Jesus, search my heart this day and expose those instances where I am following after You for Your blessings instead of Your fellowship. Expose my selfishness and reveal to me my hidden agendas as I pursue You and Your calling on my life. Show me where my passions are going astray that I might put them in check. I confess that I can be a “sign seeker,” following after You because of what You can do for me instead of out of a heartfelt desire to be with You. It is in times like those that I realize that I am looking upon You, drawn to Your presents, and not Your presence. Yet, this day I declare that You are more precious than all this world’s riches. If You do nothing else for me in this life, to know You and be in fellowship with You satisfies my deepest longs! Lord, today I thank You that You have opened my eyes and did wonderful things in me, to me and through me in my past. I thank You that I have experienced miracles in my life on par with Lazarus’ rising from the grave! Even today if You decide to no longer show me Your wonders, my soul is fixed on following You just to be in Your presence! Where You are there is unspeakable joy! Oh, how I love You! Remind me, Lord, of why I follow You. Continue to stir up the embers that warm my heart towards You. When I begin to wax cold, stoke that fire within me with Your love, resuscitating the love that I have for You. That is the greatest miracle of all times! Thank You for manifesting it in me. Amen!
