There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:28
Father God, I thank You today for the grace that is mine, ours, in Christ Jesus. I confess that I live in a world that seeks to divide and separate. We cluster into camps based upon gender, complexion, customs, origins – You name it – classifying ourselves based upon things that, on the surface look like they mean something, but in the grand scheme of things don’t. We use them as walls of separation, creating a chasm that keeps us from engaging with one another on equal terms, apart and in cahoots with only those who are like us, believing often times that we are better than others.
Yet, when it is all said and done, we all sin. We all struggle with an identify crisis. We all need Your help.
My soul finds so much joy and peace this day in the fact that in Jesus the walls have kept us apart have been torn down, the chasm has been traversed. In Him we are not only one with Him, we are one with others. What historically has been a means of separation is now a cause for celebration. Those not like me in Christ can and do enable me to grow in grace in Him! In others I now see how God can and does work through them and me, that we, together, might reflect His glory!
So today, I pray that You would enable me to be one with others even as I am one with You. Let Your glory shine on me, in me and through me. Use me to draw others to You and vice versa. Help us all to show the beauty and glory of what it means to be one with You. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
