Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.”

John 12:20-21 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, during this Passion Week, I like these Greeks, have but one request: I want to see Jesus. In my home – I want to see Jesus. On my job – I want to see Jesus. In my city – I want to see Jesus. In my elected officials – I want to see Jesus. In my friends and family – I want to see Jesus. Everywhere I look I want to see YOU!

Master, You know I live in a world that attempts at every turn to deny Your existence. It tries to explain away clear evidence of Your interfacing with our day-to-day lives, calling movements of Your Spirit “coincidences” rather than divine manifestations. Yet this morning I’m done with all that. I’m done with embracing the reasoning of this world. I’m done being “practical” about what is happening around me. Instead, Lord, continue to show me Your fingerprints all over my life that I might point out to everyone declaring, “Look at God!” Lord, open my eyes that I might see You, see Your works, and glorify the Father Who is in Heaven, reminding the world that You are real.

Lord Jesus, I so thank You for so loving me. Even now, as You stand at the door of my heart knocking, my soul cries out, “Come in, Master! I am happy to see You!” To think: You walked boldly into Jerusalem and embraced suffering on the cross so that I, and all who call upon Your Name, might be one with You and spend eternity in Your presence. When I think about this a song resonates in my heart, “Oh, I want to see Him, look upon His face!”

Lord Jesus, that is my soul’s greatest desire! And, I cannot wait until that day when this desire will  be satisfied eternally in Your presence. Until that day, I shall not only find comfort, but also peace, in the glimmers of Your glory that You shine upon me, because I do want to see You. Thank You, Lord! Amen!
