Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”
“What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
Mark 10:35-36 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, I come to You this morning thanking You for answered prayer. And not just answered prayers where You grant me whatever I ask, which You have indeed done countless numbers of time. But more so for those that You did not return a “yes” or “let it be so” but instead showed me through Your divine wisdom and gentleness that I am a little “out there.”
What amazes me about those times when I’ve made outrageous requests is that You are so patient and receptive to me, hearing me with love and compassion. You never make me feel as if what I am bringing to You is stupid or selfish, though sometimes it is. Instead You encourage me to cast all of my cares upon You (1 Peter 1:5), not to worry about anything (Philippians 4:6-7), and remind me that I am important to You (Luke 12:6-7). I am Yours and loved with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3)! Hallelujah!
Thank You for hearing me and loving me enough to know when to say “no” to me, while in the mean time encouraging me through Your love and compassion to keep bringing my cares and concerns, wants and wishes to You. Thank You for always answering my prayers. It is my desire to have my prayers line up more with Your will for my life, loved ones and world. So, please keep speaking to me and teaching me through Your Word and my requests of what Your perfect will is. Amen.
