Now these are the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he could not move about freely because of Saul the son of Kish. And they were among the mighty men who helped him in war. They were bowmen and could shoot arrows and sling stones with either the right or the left hand; they were Benjaminites, Saul’s kinsmen.

1 Chronicles 12:1-2

Good morning Father! You have declared that You would make my Savior’s enemies His footstool (Psalm 110:1). These verses foresee this very thing happening. Here was David, running from Saul, and Saul’s own family, his relatives, some of which he probably grew up with from his hometown (1 Samuel 10:26, 1 Chronicles 12:3), sign on to be some of David’s greatest supporters. It is amazing to me how You can turn a bad situation into a good one, circumstances that are discouraging into encouragement! I can only imagine David’s first reaction when they came to him at Ziklag, how he must have been full of doubt, believing they were out to get him, only to find out that they would become his greatest advocates (1 Chronicles 12:16-18). Only You can do such a thing!

Thank You for reminding me today that You are a God Who takes “lemon” circumstances and makes “lemonade” out of them. You take what seems to be sour hopeless situations and turn them on their head to become sweet faith fuel. It is either through the welcomed greeting of a stranger or the support of a person I’ve have historically believed that did not like me. You show me that You are the One in control, that what I am going through is not beyond Your reach. In the end You show me that it will indeed work out for my good because I am loved You! Who’s truly got it better than me? Thank You for always showing me that You are there. Thank You for comforting me when I am distraught, and giving ironic glimmers of Your sovereign care for me. Amen.
